GeerCrest Farm & Co-Reliant Farmers Products Volunteering at GeerCrest Farm

We envision a day when everyone will belong to a farm. Small farms need a community of supporters, and if you are interested in making GeerCrest Farm the place that you belong to. Here are some ways to be involved:

Are you ready to live and work on a farm?
We need 2 full-time working members to join the farm team: a farmer and a community organizer
(email us... or maybe you know someone!).

Are you interested in making GeerCrest Farm
the farm you belong to?

We need farming support
: people who can be depended on for regular yearly events like bringing in hay, barn raising and other construction, harvesting and putting up food, cutting firewood, and tool maintenance.

We need ambassadors
: people who can immerse themselves in life at GeerCrest Farm for a short while, and then take it out into the world to build bridges with people in urban areas, in rural areas and among other farms. Let us know if you are interested in becoming an ambassador.
(3-day immersion program is required)

We need help with special projects: like getting permits, doing research, things that are outside the sphere of farming and can be done in a reasonable period of time.

Do you just want to drop by?
We need volunteers
: day-to-day activities like washing eggs, filling water buckets, mucking out barns, general cleaning, filling dusting boxes, weeding, and bringing in straw or wood shavings (requires a truck). This list changes daily – even hourly – so expect to do what is needed when you drop by.

Hours are from 10am to 3pm. It is helpful to call ahead.
The code phrase when you get here is "How can I help?"

All volunteers (old and new) must come for one day of training. This involves acquiring general knowledge about the farm - what we do here, where things are, farm terminology, etc. – and about the business – its mission and goals, so you can be an informed participant, to help spread the word and also to know the farm better.
